Indian Scout Bombshell Tattoo

I rode out to Bombshell Tattoo & Piercing in El Cajon, CA the other day to get more ink done on my back. Bombshell was recommended to me by Jonny from San Diego Riders.

I already have a quote from my father tattooed on my back. I’ve wanted it framed with cherry branches and two little sparrows. The cherry branches are symbolic of the cherry trees at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park, where Steve and I were married. The two sparrows represent the two of us, and a dream I had, where he and I took flight and flew away.

The ride to Bombshell would’ve only been 15 minutes in from downtown San Diego, except I hadn’t anticipated the rush hour traffic. The I-8 eastbound was mostly congested the entire way. ¬†There were places where we had to lane split just to keep from being too late. Steve and I still arrived at Bombshell about 5 minutes past my appointment, but Ashley, the tattoo artist/owner, wasn’t in any hurry.

Taking the needle for 3+ hours was rather painful, but it was actually not as bad as I anticipated.

There’s still more work to do, however. This visit was just to get the branches tattooed. The sparrows will have to wait for another time.
